Child blood testing can be an anguish for children and parents alike if it is not done in the right way, in the appropriate environment and with the right skills.
At Géndino, we do our utmost to ensure that our patients have the best possible experience.
Why is it recommended to go visit a specialized infant and child clinic if blood sampling is required from your child?
According to Szilveszter Horinka, the practice’s senior assistant, “The most important thing is that while adults understand the need to get over the discomfort and know what to expect, this is not the case with children. They don’t understand why they are being pushed down, why they are being hurt, and may even suffer lifelong trauma.
“A child has a soulof and a personality of their own, and this should be taken into account when taking blood from them,” he says. “Blood collection should not be seen as a ‘speed service’, you should take a few minutes to make it easier for yourself and the child. It takes fifteen seconds to draw a tube of blood, but that means I have to spend at least fifteen minutes communicating with the child, and sometimes much longer. Psychological perparation is a longer process.”
